The Experience
Your experience starts when you arrive at the airfield just outside the city, where you will check in and meet your pilot. Before heading out to the tarmac, you will sit down for a quick safety briefing so you know how the aircraft operates and what to do during take-off and landing.
Once the checks are finished, you will walk over to the helicopter and get settled into your seat. The engine starts up, the rotors pick up speed, and you will lift off straight into the air. You will head out over the water of Lake Sempach first before the pilot turns the aircraft towards the main alpine ridges.
As the flight progresses, you will pass over the city itself, giving you a clear view of the old town and the bridges from above. From there, the helicopter climbs higher to take you past the sharp peaks of Mount Pilatus and across to the Rigi massif, which sits surrounded by three different lakes.
You will be able to see exactly how the mountains drop away into the valleys while your pilot points out key parts of the geography over the headset. Because the route covers a lot of ground quickly, you get a solid overview of the central region before the pilot loops back around and brings the helicopter down smoothly at the home airfield.
