Your day begins in Bucharest, where you’ll join your transport and set off towards the Carpathian Mountains. As the capital gives way to forested slopes, you’ll begin to see a side of Romania that feels far removed from the busy city streets.
The first major stop is Peleș Castle in Sinaia. Built as a summer residence for the Romanian royal family, the castle is known for its grand interiors and mountain setting. During your guided visit, you can see richly decorated rooms including the Hall of Honour and the Armoury. You’ll also have free time to enjoy the castle gardens before continuing the journey.
From Sinaia, you’ll travel further into Transylvania to Bran Castle. Its towers and hillside position have helped make it one of Romania’s most recognisable landmarks. The castle began life as a medieval fortress and later became closely associated with Bram Stoker’s Dracula, despite the links between the fictional count and the real castle being largely a matter of legend.
The day continues in Brașov, a historic city shaped by its Saxon heritage. Your guide will lead you through the old centre, where Council Square sits among colourful façades and medieval streets. There will be time to take in the atmosphere before beginning the return journey.
This full-day excursion is an easy way to explore beyond Bucharest without arranging separate transport between the different locations. With the route planned and a guide providing the background, you can concentrate on the castles, mountain scenery and stories you came to discover.
