The Experience
Your time at the centre begins with a short briefing from the team, where you’ll run through basic paddle techniques and safety protocols. Once everyone is up to speed, you’ll collect your wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets before heading down to the water’s edge.
After climbing into the raft and getting your footing, the instructors will guide you out into the current. You’ll start on calmer stretches to get used to paddling in sync, but it doesn't take long before the pace picks up as you hit the main rapids.
As the water churns, you’ll need to react quickly to the instructor's calls, digging your paddles in to keep the boat on course through the drops and swells. Expect to get soaked as the raft bounces through the rapids, testing your balance and teamwork at every turn. You'll complete several runs down the course, giving you a chance to improve your line and tackle the bigger waves with a bit more confidence each time.
