The Experience
Your flying experience begins with a briefing from a CAA-qualified instructor. They'll introduce you to the aircraft and explain how the main controls work before you head out for your flight.
Once you're in the aircraft, your instructor will handle the necessary procedures before giving you the opportunity to take the controls. You'll be able to experience what it's like to fly an aeroplane while your instructor remains alongside you throughout the flight.
You'll spend approximately 30 minutes in the air. During the flight, you'll see the landscape from a completely different perspective while getting a genuine introduction to flying from the pilot's seat.
The complete experience lasts approximately 60 minutes, including your briefing and flying time. At most locations, you'll also receive a signed flight certificate to mark the occasion.
The lesson is available at flying locations across the UK. Spectators are welcome, so friends or family can come along to watch and take photographs. At some flying schools, it may also be possible for an additional passenger to sit in the rear of the aircraft. This is arranged at the instructor's discretion and is subject to the individual location's requirements.
Your trial lesson can count towards a Private Pilot's Licence, making this an authentic introduction to flying as well as a memorable experience in its own right.
