Your experience begins in the heart of Edinburgh, where you will meet your local guide and set off on foot through the atmospheric streets of the Old Town.
As you walk, you will discover how the city’s striking architecture and its genuine history of witchcraft directly influenced the settings and characters of the books.
The route takes you along the bustling High Street and down cobblestone lanes to view the vibrant buildings that helped inspire the look of Diagon Alley. Your guide will share insights into J.K. Rowling’s time in the city, pointing out the specific cafés and hotel rooms where she wrote the early manuscripts.
Moving further into the historic centre, you will visit a quiet churchyard to see the headstones bearing names that readers will immediately recognise, including the real-world inspiration for Lord Voldemort. Nearby, you will get a clear view of the prominent local school whose turrets and traditional houses helped shape the concept of Hogwarts itself.
