The Cupola is a masterpiece of the Renaissance, climb up to the top to enjoy Florence from 330 feet high, admire the biggest frescoed surface of the world, follow your expert guide along the secret passages of the 1400s.It is a masterpiece capable of withstanding lightings, earthquakes, wars, and passage of time…with its diameter of 46 meters is the biggest dome in the world built without any scaffolding by using a double shell with space in between. The inner shell (with a thickness of more than two meters) is made of light bricks set in a herringbone pattern and is the self-supporting structural element while the outer dome simply serves as a heavier, wind-resistant covering. With this tour, participants you will walk through the space between the two shells up to the top of the lantern, 330 feet high from where you’ll dominate the skyline of Florence and the Tuscan countryside. Along the climbing, you will have the chance to admire the biggest painted surface in the world (3600 square meters) and the marvelous marble floor of the cathedral. The tour includes the skip-the-ine ticket with 72 hours validity that gives you access to all the monuments of the square: Giotto’s bell tower, baptistery, Museum and crypt.
