The Experience
The Mackerel Fishing Trip in Sligo Bay is one of the most popular ways to spend time on the water in Ireland’s northwest.
This two-hour charter departs from the scenic village of Rosses Point and is suitable for all ages, making it a great choice for families or anyone keen to try fishing for the first time.
After meeting at the Harry Ewing Pier beside the Sligo Bay RNLI Station, you’ll board the boat and receive a short introduction to light fishing from the friendly crew. All rods and tackle are included, and free tuition ensures everyone can get involved, regardless of experience.
When mackerel are in season, you’ll have the chance to reel in your own catch. If conditions change, the skipper may adjust to reef fishing to keep things interesting. Either way, you can keep what you catch, provided the species isn’t protected by law.

Important Information
You will be expected to follow instructions of the skipper at all times throughout the trip. The skipper reserves the right to cancel the trip and return to port if he believes the safety of the crew or the vessel may be compromised in anyway.
Rod and tackle use is included, however the hirer is responsible for any lost or damaged gear.
